When you first start a painting business and have no reputation, no vehicle with graphics and no budget, you have to go old school- door-to-door sales. When people aren’t home- or even when they are, you have to have something to hand them.

The 1000 door hangers got 4 calls in the first month- and the month was February- when not everyone is thinking about painting. It’s a great start for a start-up business.

Getting people to come out on a Saturday to hear politicians talk requires some creative marketing.

Case and point, our soapbox poster design. Promising “heavy thoughts” and warning of “awareness of issues” allowed this creative approach to make a statement all by itself.

We wanted people to come to the Harvest Fest. The result was a “steal this poster” crime wave… Yeah the poster design got noticed, the festival was a success, but we should have printed a bunch extra and sold them!

When you get it right with the first project you get to do the next poster design as well.

Combining elegant artwork and design flourishes made this Mardi Gras poster a huge success. The response was so overwhelming that we saw a need to print and package these posters and put ’em up for sale. It’s always a pleasure working with the 2nd Street Market, keep watching for the next event.
